Bruce Kunkel and Rob Harris were voted by the members and visitors of Universe Spirit as our Musical Artists for the Spring Quarter 2006
Kunkel & Harris have been performing and writing together for many years. Their unique vocal harmonies and blend of original folk-acoustic-rock ranges from songs of the heart to social commentary. They also have long-term independent musical careers: Bruce is a co-founder and former recording artist with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and Rob is an accomplished home recording artist and was lead vocalist in Bluegrass by Default.
Bruce Kunkel is Managing Partner of Bruce Kunkel Associates, a Strategic Organization Development - Executive Search consulting organization. Bruce has gained many unique perspectives and great insight in his experiences, not only as a top executive search consultant to some of the most progressive technology companies, but also in the capacity as an innovative entrepreneur. In the eighties, Bruce founded and ran Dovetail, Inc., a high tech Silicon Valley based executive search firm. Earlier, Bruce enjoyed success as founder and recording artist with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and later, was founder and CEO of Zenbod Corporation, an innovative "mass customization" fashion apparel company. Bruce has been a successful hi-tech search consultant for a wide range of management and engineering personnel. He has been equally successful in securing and counseling key talent for sales, marketing, operations, and finance sectors for a many pre-IPO’s and startups, as well as a number of public technology clients such as Cisco Systems, Symantec, KPMG, Adaptec, Seagate Technology, and Xerox. Bruce has also worked in management and advisory roles for various non-profit and community service organizations. In addition, Bruce has coached and counseled individuals and business units through change and transition, and has taught statistics and experimental design at the university level. In his "spare time", Bruce reads voraciously on a wide range of topics, composes, records, and performs music, writes, paints, runs and meditates. Bruce is currently writing books on adult development and organizational effectiveness based on the Spiral Dynamics work of Don Beck and Christopher Cowan, and the all-level, all-quadrant Integral Model of Ken Wilber.
