If you have viewed the two great short video overviews on climate destabilization below previously, there is need to do them again. Just go on the the Where are We Now section farther down the page. If you have not seen these two videos, they contain essential climate info made easy to understand!
Additionally, the following sections of the Job One online booklet called Essential Climate Information contain more climate information critical to understanding the urgency for the Job One for Humanity Plan practical action steps.
Two Short Videos on Human-Caused Catastrophic Climate Destabilization: Illustrating the Big Picture
Video 1: The Most Terrifying Video You'll Ever See Version 2. Version 1 of this video has been viewed almost six million times and that number is still soaring. Version 2 is even better! It is a phenomenal, 10-minute-long video that examines the arguments of the critics and the arguments of the supporters of the facts surrounding catastrophic climate destabilization, allowing you to come to your own conclusions.
Video 2: Wake Up, Freak Out - Then Get a Grip is 11 minutes long. It gives a basic explanation of what is happening to destabilize the climate and why. Although it sometimes subtly presents a polarized viewpoint of us against them (that is, us against the vested interests, corporations and heavily lobbied governments) it is still a well done animation that does an amazing job of explaining the basics of how and why catastrophic climate destabilization is unfolding. It has been viewed over a million times and has been translated into 22 different languages.
(Please note: Our spiritual community does not promote polarizing or dualistic approaches because we try to see things from the big-picture viewpoint of progressive universe evolution in which everyone and everything is learning from feedback and then either adapting and growing or breaking down and being recycled.)
Both of the above videos capture a good part of the reasoning behind the need for the Job One for Humanity message.
If you liked the above two videos, consider also watching this new 17 minute video called "Climate Change Made Simple" so you can intelligently talk about the basics of issues with anyone. Click here to watch this new June 2012 TedX talk video.
Where Are We Now in the Challenge to Re-stabilize Our Climate.
If you read the introductory page to Job One in the Where Are We Now section to review of the hard statistics on global warming, you will clearly see we are in deep crisis. (If you have not already read the Where Are We Now section, click here.)
There is much more than just climate statistics creating this escalating crisis. There are also huge structural challenges to resolving the global warming and climate destabilization issue. Just a few of those big structural issues are:
1.) We don't know the actual tipping points for many subsystems of the global climate. Our current risk assessments and time projections of temperature increases are based on incomplete information that does not include this mission-critical climate tipping point data. Our current climate information on tipping points is not adequate to prevent us misplanning and miscalculating ourselves into climate catastrophe. (Job One clearly discloses this hidden problem in both accurate risk analysis and for remedial action prioritization.)
2.) Our current climate re-stabilization strategies are way behind the curve. They are often “feel good” measures that probably will slower or lessen the pain, but will not prevent the worst of climate destabilization from ravaging the planet. In fact, we are so far behind the necessary global warming remediation curve that it would be foolish to not tell people to immediately begin re-planning their futures and to start preparing to adapt to the huge unhappy changes that are coming.
3.) We don't have the time to educate everyone and implement the massive infrastructure changes to move from a fossil fuel powered global society to a green and sustainably powered global society. What would take 50 years to 100 years normally, we now need to do in the next 10 to 20 years. We need some form of well-informed, effective international government to literally order and enforce the necessary massive changes on a global basis.
4.) We really don't have the global structural mechanisms in place to create verifiable and enforceable International law on global warming and climate destabilization. The Catch-22 here is that without verifiable and enforceable international law on global warming we will not be able to resolve the problem in time to prevent catastrophic, irreversible or extinction level climate destabilization.
As you can see, we face adaptive challenges as species that are unprecedented. We truly face the greatest transformational, evolutionary adventure in human history...
